Many people with used cars for sell would rather sell directly to a buyer
without going through a middleman.
Likewise, many buyers would rather deal with the seller and save the
middleman's fee. The problem is getting the two sides together. The solution?
A used car flea market.
Lease an empty parking lot for weekend use and rent space to car owners to
display their used cars.
You will need three things to start this business:
A Good Location
Liability Insurance
People with Cars for sale.
Your location can be an empty parking lot, unused drive in theater lot, commuter
parking lot or even a roped off area of a shopping center parking lot.
Check with your home or car insurance agent to see if they offer public liability
insurance. If they don't they can tell you who does.
To find people with cars for sale you can advertise in the local paper, place ads on light
poles near busy intersections, and/or call people with cars listed for sale in the local
newspapers and shoppers.
One man in San Jose, CA makes $2000.00 each weekend by renting a closed
drive in movie lot for the weekend. He charges $25.00 for every owner to display
their car. There is no fee to the buyer and all transactions are between the buyer
and the seller. The young entrepreneur makes extra money by running a concession
stand (which was left over from the drive in movie days) and by running an
independent inspection station.
