Link Exchange: If you have your own
website, link exchange is a very effective way of getting "targeted"
traffic. And it's FREE! Simply set yourself up a "links page" on your
website. Find other websites that relate to yours. Almost all offer link
exchange.
Most sites have a simple form you fill out to request
a link. If you can't find one, just email them. It is best if you do not
find a link exchange page to place a simple text link on your page first.
When you email them just tell them where they can find their link. If you do
not hear from them within a week, send 1 more request. If you still don't
here from them, take their link down.
Also, you want to try to find
sites with a good rank in the SE's to link with. And keep a watch. Make sure
they don't go down or get penalized. You only want good inbound links
to your site.
Most importantly, You want to keep your link pages
relevant to your site. Search Engines look for relevancy and content. For
example: If you have a site about technical issues, you don't want
links to cooking sites.
One way to get good quality links to your
site is to do a search on Google or some other search engine. I prefer
Google myself.
If your site is about advertising...Try a
search: advertising+Link partners. Or advertising+Link exchange. You
will usually find a couple sites this way.
Other wise, Simply do a
search on advertising. Look through the websites that are within the
first 2 pages of Google. On each site look for a link on their home page
about link partners or link exchange.
This is very time
consuming but rewarding. The more links you have coming in to your site the
more traffic you will recieve.
Beware of Link farms. Or Free for all
pages. These pages or websites are usually unorganized and chaotic. They
also do not offer relevant links to your pages. Most SE's frown on this sort
of linking.
Some people use link building software
to help get link exchanges. There are several available on the
Internet that you can subscribe to or purchase. Most of these software
programs are designed where you can enter your sites information along with
keywords and the software will find Only the most relevant sites for you to
link with.
This would save you a lot of time and headache. Not only
does the software do your researching for you for relevant sites but it also
puts the links you collect on to your link partner page for you.
